Important information about taking your car to Turkey

• Purpose: The vehicle may only be used for the originally intended purpose. Renting, lending, transferring or selling without permission is prohibited.
• Use: Only authorized persons (e.g. spouses, parents, children) may use the vehicle.
• Modifications: Changes to registered vehicle parts require the approval of the customs authorities.
• Length of stay: After 3 months, the vehicle must be exported or presented to the customs authorities.
• Multiple entry: Circumventing the residence conditions through multiple use of passports/ID cards is not permitted.

Penalties for violations:

• Fine of 25% of the customs value of the vehicle
• confiscation of the vehicle
• expulsion from Turkey

Amount of the fine:

• 1 month overage: 1,656 TL
• 2 months overage: 3,312 TL
• 3 months overage: 4,968 TL

Additional penalty:

• 6,624 TL for unauthorized export of the vehicle without the consent of the customs authority
